Fieldwork Games is an indie game studio dedicated to creating immersive historical experiences through interactive storytelling. We believe games can be powerful tools for exploring leadership, strategy, and the human drama behind history's defining moments.
Our Mission
Our mission is to inspire curiosity and challenge perceptions through interactive storytelling. We create immersive historical experiences, from tactical naval survival to grand operational strategy.
The Studio
Founded by Matt, a lifelong history enthusiast and strategy gaming veteran, Fieldwork Games was born from a passion project that grew into something bigger. By day, Matt navigates the world of marketing. By night (and weekends), he builds the historical strategy games he's always wanted to play.
Development is split between two ambitious projects: Sovereign Tides, a tight pirate-themed roguelite looter written in JavaScript, and Field of Command, a multi-year WWII operational RTS built in Godot. This dual approach keeps the creative energy flowing and prevents burnout—sometimes you just need to step back and work on something fresh to see the bigger picture.
"One of the greatest challenges I face is staying interested and avoiding burnout. Field of Command is my fourth attempt at a game. Sometimes you just cannot see the wood for the trees until you step away and revisit after a short break. That's what seems to work for me."
